Atlas Copco Drilling Rig
With easily maneuvered rock drills, Atlas Copco dominated the global market during the 1950s. Due to its success however, the company fell behind in the development of the heavier product lines. But it wasn’t long before the company had made up the lost ground.
Atlas Copco Drilling Rig for Sale
The first pneumatic rock drill was constructed by Nya Atlas in 1905. It was a copy of an American model that was soon abandoned for an own design – a lightweight, handheld rock drill that was given the name Cyklop. This lightweight drill was used into the 1930s. In parallel with the manufacture of hand-powered drills, a lightweight, ratchet-rotating machine was constructed in 1913 that would be suitable for porous rock types, such as limestone. This machine type, the BOB, was still in production until the 1930s when it was replaced by a lightweight, ratchet-rotating drill of the RH type. A type that would have major significance for the company’s continued development.
