Description
Here is a very good 1944 vintage collector John Deere BR All Fuel Gas Tractor. Runs and operates great. See video.
Our Service Dept. did a final inspection and we sent out the magneto to be professionally rebuilt. We can hand start it even when cold but usually pull it to start it since it pulls right off like we did for the video. You will see some exhaust smoke in the video and since this tractor had set for several years before we just recently got it started again and put fresh gas in it we think the rings may need to be reset in because it had been parked for so long. Otherwise the engine pulls off very easy and the engine runs strong so that is our best advice to put this tractor to work when you get it. For example running a 5-ft. pull behind bush hog cutter for several hours or pulling a disc harrow or something behind it to give it a good workout. If we had some acreage here we would do that ourselves but we just have a 1 acre gravel lot.

The BR model is rated 5/5 Stars in the John Deere Two-Cylinder Tractor Buyer's Guide as "Best Investment" due to the few numbers made and still around these days, especially in as good a shape as this one. See the 2 interesting historical type photos I posted above too.
Background: The Model BR is the Standard Tread (Wheatland) or non-row crop tractor...the R standing for regular tread. When this model was first introduced in 1935 the general-purpose row crop tractors were still considered aberrations of the regular tread model D. Subsequest lowboy variants of the models were given the submodel R designation, culminating in the ultimate replacement for the D, which was Deere's first Diesel the Model R, introduced in 1949. Besides the BR being lower then the row crop A it was heavier (3,400 lbs.) and had the fixed wheel tread and no hydraulic lift option. The BR and BO had a different serial number range than the B and unlike the AR a styled version never was introduced. Very few BR's were made as compared to the B and that is the reason for its 5/5 Star rating, as compared to 2/5 stars on the styled B.
