    Description
BORN IN THE DIRT Contractors are a special breed. You live your work and expect the equipment you buy to work harder than you do. That’s what makes the 220TS4 unique – it was built by engineers and skilled craftsman who have spent their lives working in the dirt searching for solutions to allow you to Do More. FEATURED UPGRADE: TEFLON BUSHINGS Effective under the new 2018/2019 pricing, Ashland has implemented self-lubricating Teflon fiber bushings in the majority of hard-to-reach location the on the 220TS4 scraper. This feature has shortened the daily grease schedule time by nearly 40%. The Pushoff floor rollers, hold-down roller, Apron cylinder base end, and Pushoff cylinder base end now utilize these cutting edge PTFE lined bushings. Durability is unmatched with an expected life of 1,000 to 1,500 working hours HITCH SYSTEM: By running your tractors drawbar pin horizontally thru the hitch’s two ears, your scraper can be mounted closer to the tractors rear axle, which helps keep the front of MFWD tractor weighed down. The drawbars vertical pin is mounted 22” behind the horizontal drawbar pin, which provides you with a superior turning radius. Over engineered with higher strength material and additional support gussets. Heavy steel bulk head and ridged hose stand keep hydraulic lines safe and secure. FRONT SECTION: Vertically mounted 5.5″ x 20″ friction welded trunnion mount cylinders with a nitrobar rod are attached directly over the blade set. These cylinders are mounted in a nearly vertical position so that when the operator retracts the cylinder one inch, the blade moves one inch. This enables you to maintain greater control of engine RPMs and ground speed. By moving faster the dirt continues to “boil,” developing bigger and quicker loads. Ashland utilizes a thick walled 16” round front section pipe for the 220TS4. A standard hydraulic accumulator provides a smoother ride by absorbing shock loads while transporting fully loaded scrapers. This adds protection for both the scraper and the tractor without the need for any additional plumbing. The Pole is box built with an internal skeleton vs. formed halves to increase rigidity. The tapered trailing arm has excellent depth of frame near the front pipe to reduce failure at the corners. And with an elevated Front Section pipe, operators can take advantage of unmatched visibility and greater clearance while loading piles or in areas with heavy debris such as tall grass or brush. FRONT PIPE: Round structures, such as the heavy wall pipe that Ashland uses in its Front Section, handle torsional loads (twisting loads) much better than square or rectangle tubing. With rounded pipe, the stress of your load is displaced around the entire circumference of the structure — with any other style, stress is amplified in the corners and seams. Concentrated stress can cause the tubing to fail in these areas, making our Front Section pipe a superior design. APRON: The 220TS4 scraper has a spacious front opening for material to easily fall forward and be leveled out by the blade while ejecting. Uses big 5” x 13” friction welded hydraulic cylinders for maximum clamping force. The side of Ashland Aprons have close tolerance to the Bowls sidewalls — this tight fit ensures that debris won’t bend the Apron inward as the ejector moves forward. BOWL: The 220TS4 has a 22 cu. yd. heaped capacity and a 16 cu. yd. struck capacity, with a dual plated floor system. This system consists of two heavy plates that support both the top and bottom edges of the moldboard, ensuring that the floor will remain straight and strong when coming in contact with large objects such as stumps or rocks. The scraper incorporates a five piece blade set secured with grade eight bolts and nuts. The protruding center blade extends longer than the neighboring corner blades to bite into material. HYDRAULIC VALVE: The 220TS4’s valve assembly functions on a dual cartridge system, using a Sequence and Counter Balance Valve. When engaged, this allows the Apron to open fully prior to the Pushoff moving forward to eject material. Once the ejector wall (Pushoff) has thrust the payload forward, the operator can reverse the control lever in the cab, allowing the ejector wall to retract while the Apron remains open. This system gives the operator the ability to begin loading the scraper immediately. Once the ejector wall is fully retracted to the rear of the Bowl, the sequencing cartridge will divert oil to the Apron — at that point, the Apron will close fully. If you’d prefer to control your scraper’s Apron independently from the ejector, there is a three circuit option for greater control. PUSHOFF: We mount the ejector cylinder low on the ejector wall, close to the floor, so the machine pushes right where the load is sitting. The rear framework and Pushoff face are a completely welded system. Three massive rectangular pieces of tubing are welded into a square shape and then welded onto a round tube back bumper for a flex-free structure. This frame supports the 3” rod and 5” x 60” Pushoff cylinder connected to the face-plate. PUSHBAR EXTENSION: Need to push your scraper with a dozer? You will appreciate the extra distance that Ashland’s pushbar extension provides. Because our lift cylinders are mounted in a nearly vertical position, you won’t see increased pressure within the hydraulic lines while pushing with a dozer. WHEEL SYSTEM: The multi-position rear axle design provides the flexibility to position the rear tires either in-line for increased flotation and better compaction or with 8” of offset for less rolling resistance. So, regardless of your soil condition, there is a tire package available to keep you floating on the soil and moving forward. A super capacity 14-bolt pass-through hub system is integrated on Ashland scrapers which allow easy tire service and maintenance. The rear tires on this scraper are 20.5 x 25.
